Research & Development (R&D) Cell:
The Research & Development (R&D) Cell established at KITSS aims
to create research culture
among the faculty and students and covers incentives and seed funding to various
research activities.
The primary task of the R&D cell is to inculcate among the staff and students the
necessity of research
and to provide assistance for writing research proposals and to undertake research
projects in the
emerging and challenging areas of engineering, technology and science.
R&D Cell Objectives:
- 1.To formulate policies on all research related matters which impact on the vision
of
the Institute and objectives of the R&D Cell of the KITS.
- 2.To promote quality research and motivate faculty and students towards research
integrity and ethics.
- 3.To ensure faculty and students publications in quality journals indexed in
Scopus/Web of Science.
- 4.To promote an environment of undertaking socially relevant sponsored research and
industrial consultancy projects.
- 5.To provide essential infrastructure facilities to support research work at KITSS.
R&D Cell Committee:
The R&D Cell committee shall be constituted for ensuring effective
outcomes and impact in matters relating
to the objectives of R&D cell at KITSS. The R&D Cell shall be responsible for
overall functioning of research
activities within the institute. The institute level R&D Cell Committee shall
conduct meetings to discharge

R&D Cell Functions:
- 1.Dean R&D will be assisted by the faculty members designated as R&D
coordinators deputed one each from the departments.
- 2.The R&D coordinators are expected to provide the necessary R&D related
information of their department from time to time and aid in executing the Dean
R&D duties effectively.
- 3.To ensure faculty and students publications in quality journals, indexed in
Scopus/Web of Science with impact factor and eliminate the scope of plagiarism as
per the UGC regulations.
- 4.To assist writing research proposals and guidance for submission of proposals to
various funding agencies.
- 5.To inculcate research culture by organizing various seminars, lecture series and
FDP’s with eminent researchers.
- 6.To motivate faculty and students to design, fabricate and implement viable
functional projects for the benefit of the society.
- 7.To recommend incentives for faculty for significant outcomes in research work,
publications and patents.
- 8.To recommend seed money to faculty and students who are working on industrial
& societal relevance research projects at the institute level.
- 9.To prepare and submission of budget proposals to the management for smooth
conduction of research activities at the institute.
- 10.To identify various funding agencies and connect to faculty to submit proposals
and take up research work.
- 11.To identify various funding agencies and alumni to establish new laboratories /
modernization of labs.
- 12.To review and publish goals, strategic plans and research outcomes for onward
submission to the management.
- 13.To review faculty research contributions periodically and onward submission to
the
management.
- 14.To encourage faculty to register various scholar ID’s and professional bodies.
- 15.To create and maintain a database regarding faculty expertise and their
publications.
R&D Cell faculty coordinators duties and responsibilities.
- The department R&D faculty coordinators are expected to provide the necessary

National Innovation and Start-up Policy 2019 for
Students & Faculty Implementation Committee

NISP 2019 was launched by Hon'ble Minister of Human
Resource Development on 11 September 2019.
- The policy
intends to guide HEIs to promote students’ and
faculty driven innovations & startups.
- It will be
instrumental in leveraging the potential of student’s
problem solving & entrepreneurial mind-set and promoting
a strong intra and inter-institutional partnerships.
Major Functions of the NISP committee:

HEI to ensure maximum student should participate and go
through pre-incubation process of Problem
identification, Solution development, Proof of Concept
validation and prototype development, business model and
proposal development.
- HEI should
link
and collaborate their Incubation unit with external
agencies and ecosystem enablers and provide network
support to incubate startups.
- Connecting
student entrepreneurs with incubate startups for
internship, experience sharing and encouraging
participation of students in innovation and business
plan competitions and organize such
competitions/hackathons on campus.
